I've now mixed 10 different buckets of salt water and the ALK was very low in each bucket. WebSep 14, 2024 · If those are parameters you're comfortable running, Instant Ocean is a good choice at 35ppt (I use muriatic acid to lower the alkalinity). If you like levels that are higher, Reef Crystals is probably an easier option for you. I don't think there is a good reason to run levels outside of that range but we all have our preferences. WheresTheReef WebOct 16, 2013 · I was given an open bag of instant ocean reef salt. I don't have a reef tank but figured I would use it anyway. It doesn't seem to dissolve completely. Is that normal for this kind or does it go bad. I usually just use instant ocean salt and it does not do that.
